From Britt Campbell: First, I would like to thank all of the Upper Pine Lake home and cabin owners who responded to my earlier letter regarding a lake association meeting at our cabin on June 3.  Unfortunately, I only received eight responses and four of them were not able to attend on that date.  Due to the lack of response, I am cancelling (postponing?) the meeting. I am sending out this notice to all home and cabin owners who have listed an email with the lake association but am currently missing email addresses for nineteen owners.  I am hoping that with the upcoming Memorial Weekend, most home and cabin owners will be at their lake places so I am asking that if you see your neighbors over the weekend, please pass the word and make sure that they are aware of the meeting being cancelled.  There is not time at this point to send out another letter to everyone so I would appreciate any help in getting the word out.  I understand the June 3rd...

Porcupine

There was a brief conversation the other day with a neighborhood porcupine. The happen to be rodents, rank as the longest living rodents in the world, up to eighteen years and have four defensive mechanisms: quill erection, teeth clattering, odor emission, and attack. A few years ago one was living in one of my woodpiles. It was late fall and perhaps it was a bit sluggish because of the cooler weather but I picked it up with a scoop shovel and carried it far into the woods. Maybe it's come back for a visit.
